The Dorset Plane Pull was founded in early 2009 by a small group of individuals with the aim of raising valuable funds for two charities close to their hearts. Since then the event has grown year on year and now numerous beneficiary charities raise valuable funds each year by submitting teams to take part on their behalf.
Teams of 20 individuals take up the challenge to complete a game of numbers… Moving a mighty Boeing 737 commercial airliner weighing 35,000kg a distance of 50 Meters in the fastest time. The primary aim being to fundraise for charities recognised both locally and nationally.
And just in case that wasn’t enough, food, drink, live entertainment, stalls and exhibits are on site to keep both our pullers and spectators entertained throughout the day – we like to make sure that the Dorset Plane Pull is a great day out for everyone involved.
Based at Bournemouth Airport, this unique event formed in 2009 has grown in popularity and has successfully raised over £130,000 in support of our beneficiary charities. Every penny of this sum has gone to support the different campaigns and projects each one has and examples of which can be seen on our ‘where does the money go’ page.
In 2018 we celebrate our 10th birthday and with a mission to push our fundraising total over the £150,000 mark we need your help! Come along and enter a team, offer your time as a volunteer or support us financially as a business.
